Inspirational Women, Inspirational Lives

Ladies First supporting the Katie Piper Foundation

In February 2020 we came together at Mallory Court to meet our 60 wonderful finalists, judges and sponsors.  We hope you enjoy meeting them through the pages of this book and are inspired by their personal stories of determination and courage.

Ladies First Awards is not just about the celebration of achievements it is also passionate about supporting charities and our selected charity for 2020/2021 is The Katie Piper Foundation.

Katie Piper herself is an inspirational and courageous woman.  In 2009, while still in the early stages of her own recovery Katie set up The Katie Piper Foundation with the aim of supporting burn survivors and improving their outcomes.

Due to the pandemic, our awards evening plans have had to change. While we’ll not be enjoying a fabulous night of fun, celebration and fundraising, all is not lost. Instead, we are taking the party to our finalists from a live studio in Coventry.

To fulfil our commitment to our charity, all proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to The Katie Piper Foundation.

THE INVISIBLE GIRL

You can read my full story here, from when I was ten years old and what happened to me. I was admitted to a psychiatric unit at fifteen and continued to suffer throughout my adult life with feelings of self-hatred, fear, darkness and not knowing who I was. I used addictions to help me to cope on the outside when the inside was chaotic. I finally found my healing and had a burning desire to share this with the universe to give love, hope and inspiration to others in pain.

Don’t tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass
